Our
Audio & Video Sermons have a minimum system requirement of Real
Player 8 REAL player to play. If you don't have Real
Player 8 already installed on your personal computer, follow these
step-by-step instructions to quickly install this media player for
free.
Instructions can be printed by clicking on the Print button, the
Printer icon, or by clicking on File and then Print.

Windows 95/98
Real Player G2 is installed with WiscWorld 3.5 or above. Older
versions need to follow these instructions to obtain a copy of the
Real Player Basic Beta 8 software. You must have an open internet
connection.
1. Go to
http://www.real.com/player/index.html , where you can
get the Free Real Audio 8 Player.
2. Click on the link entitled "Real Player 8 Basic Beta is our
free player" (below the picture of the woman) It will take you to
a page where you need to enter some basic address information.
Enter your email in the designated field
Select your country
Under Select OS, choose your operating system. If you don't know
what operating system you have, click here for instructions on how
to find out.
You will generally have a Pentium class system, unless your
computer is pretty old.
If you are using a modem, you will be using either 14.4 kbp/s,
28.8 kbp/s, 33.6 kbp/s or 56 kbp/s connections. Choose your
connection type based on the type of modem you have. If you don't
know the type of modem you have, click here for instructions. If
you using the campus ethernet, choose T1/LAN. If you are using a
cable modem through a private provider, check with that provider
for speed information.
Don't check #5 (Net to Phone) Don't Check #6 (notify me about
real.com).
3. Click the Download button. You may see a warning like
this..."Any information you submit is insecure..." Click OK if you
see this warning.
4. Click the standalone version (olive colored column). Then click
on the button labeled "Download FREE Real Player 8 Basic Beta Now"
5. Another page will come up, asking you where to download from.
Choose a location in the United States. Click the location.
6. A window will appear. Next to where it says "Save in:", there
is a drop down menu. Click on the arrow on the right of this drop
down menu, and choose C: Click Save. It will now save to your C:
directory. This will take a long time, even at 56 K. If Norton
Anti-Virus says it has "detected an attempt to create or modify an
application", Click Allow for each of these warnings (there could
be several warnings). After the download is complete, the window
will disappear and you will have something on your C: drive called
rp8-setup.exe.
7. Close your web browser and open My Computer.
8. Next Open Drive C: You will find rp8-setup.exe below the
folders.
9. Double Click on rp8-setup.exe. A window will appear saying
Preparing to Install Real Player 8 Basic Beta. Norton may ask if
you are installing software and say "Do you want Norton Anti-Virus
to suspend the display of virus like activity alerts during
installation?". Click Yes. It may ask you this more than once.
Click Yes each time.
10. Next, a setup window will appear. click Next.
11. Click Accept to accept the license agreement.
12. Click Next to accept the folder they say. (If you want another
folder, you can browse to somewhere else.)
13. The next screen shows several different choices...uncheck
everything EXCEPT "Add a desktop shortcut for RealPlayer" and then
Click Finish.
14. Real Player will install..
15. When it is completed installing, a "Personalize your Real
Player Screen" will appear. Your email should already be in
there....check other items for correctness....Make sure "Email me
about product new updates, etc." is UNCHECKED! Click Next.
16. Choose your Internet connection speed from the drop down menu.
This information is the same as you indicated earlier, either
14.4, 28.8, 33.6, 56K or T1/LAN if you are using campus ethernet.
Click Next.
17. The next window is called Channel Line Up. Don't check
anything on this screen. Click Next.
18. The next window is called Real.com News/Entertainment Flashes.
Don't check anything on this screen. Click Next.
19. The next window is called Real.com Product Flashes. Don't
check anything on this screen. Click Next.
20. Click Finish. Real Player will be installed.
21. Real Player will start going through an example clip it uses
to show off what it can do.
22. If you can't hear sound as you view the motion picture
example, check your sound card and/or speakers for power and
correct connection or call 4-HELP for assistance.
Macintosh:
Real Player G2 is installed with WiscWorld 3.5 or above. Older
versions need to follow these instructions to obtain a copy of the
Real Player Basic Beta 8 software. You must have an open internet
connection.
1. First check to see what operating system (OS) you have. Click
here to find out how.. If your operating system is worse than 8.1,
do not proceed. Some upgrades to older Mac OS's are available at
http://apple.doit.wisc.edu/
2. Go to http://www.real.com/player/index.html where you can get
the Free Real Audio 8 Player.
3. At the bottom of this screen (below the picture of the woman),
you will find a link called "Real Player 8 Basic Beta is our free
player." Click this link.
4. A new window will open.
Enter your email in the designated field.
Select your country.
Under where it says Select OS, choose your operating system. (This
is what you should have written down first. Remember that if it is
worse than 8.1, you can't proceed and must upgrade your computer
first.)
Choose your language.
Select your connection. If you are connecting with a modem,
chances are good that you have either a 14.4, a 28.8, a 33.6 or
56K modem connection. Choose the one that best indicates your type
of modem. If you don't know, click here for instructions on how to
find out.
Make sure the check box for 1 cent/Minute Phone Calls (#4) is NOT
checked.
Make sure the check box marked as "Notify me of important news
about Real Networks" is NOT checked (#5).
5. Click "Download FREE RealPlayer 8 Basic Beta" button . You
might see a warning like this...."Any information you submit is
insecure....". Click OK if you see this warning.6. A new window
will appear. Choose a location in the United States. Click the
location.
7. A new window will appear, showing rp8-setup.hqx downloading. It
should automatically trigger Stuffit Expander. This may take a
very long time. If Norton Anti-Virus says it has "detected an
attempt to create or modify an application", Click Allow for each
of these warnings (there could be several warnings). If you have
an older operating system, you may not have Stuffit Expander
installed. If you need it, you can find it at http://apple.doit.wisc.edu/Apple_Support_Area/Third_Party_Updates/
8. When the download and unstuffing in complete, quit Netscape.
9. On your desktop, you should have something called Real Player
Installer. Click that two times.
10. Norton may ask if you are installing software and say "Do you
want Norton Anti-Virus to suspend the display of virus like
activity alerts during installation?". Click Yes. It may ask you
this more than once. Click Yes each time.
11. It will say "Preparing to Install Real Player..."
12. A window will appear "Welcome to Real Player setup program"
Click Next.
13. Click Accept to accept the license agreement.
14. The next screen is the one where you choose the folder where
your copy of Real Player will be installed. You don't need to
change anything here. (If you want to change to another folder,
you can browse to another location.) Click Next.
15. The next screen has three check boxes. Leave all three checked
and click Finish.
16. The files will install. When finished, ( it may take several
minutes), Real Player will open.
17. A window called Personalize your Real Player" will open.
Put your email address in (it may be already filled in).
Enter your country and your zip code.
Under the Registration Options, choose send electronic
registration.
Make sure that "Email me about product news, update and offers is
UNCHECKED.
Click Next.
18. Next, choose your Internet Connection Type. Connection Speed
is the same as the speed your choose earlier, either 14.4, 28.8,
33.6, 56K or T1/LAN if you are using campus ethernet. Click Next.
19. Next, you'll get a window called Channel Line-Up. Choose the
channel you want. Click next.
20. The next screen is called Real.com News/Entertainment Flashes.
Don't click any of these. Click next.
21. Next is a screen called Real.com product flashes. Uncheck
Real.com special offers. Both check boxes should be unchecked.
22. Internet Settings. Uncheck "Send RN tech support info" and
"Send Quality of Service data to providers" The only one checked
should be "Enable Real Player Cookies."
23. Click Finish.
24. Real Player will start going through an example clip it uses
to show off what it can do.
25. If you can't hear sound as you view the motion picture
example, check your Monitors and Sound Control Panel. Unmute your
speaker. If you still can't hear anything, check your speakers and
wiring or call 4-HELP for assistance.
